yesterday published the Bavarian State Office for the Environment in a press release initial results of its investigations of peat profiles of Tüttensee: In detail, before four dates, three of which were made on peat samples.
Already the top and therefore the youngest sample has an age of about 4,500 years ago. Further, from a greater depth obtained, peat samples were dated to about 6,800 and 10,000 years. Finally, shows a sample from the lake sediments occurring below the age of 12,000 years:
